I start this “blog” with a great sense of anticipation. I am an entrepreneur; thats what I do. I strive to build and operate companies that do great things, make superior products, offer unparalleled services, and generate monetary success for myself and it’s employees. This has always been my goal ever since I was a young child. I had, and continue to have, the opportunity to watch my mother build several successful companies from the ground up.
I have certinly seen and can attest to the phrase “Thoughts Become Things.” That is one of the core principals that my mother has enstilled in me over the years. When she would tell me about her take on business, and success in general, she used the phrase “Positive Visualization.” At the time I assumed that she meant that it was important to have a positive attitude and not let things get you down. While that might be true, I think there is more to it. Recently I bought a copy of Napoleon Hill’s Think and Grow Rich. After reading only 40 pages thus far I have found that this concept of positive visualization is only part of a much broader concept… or should I say law?
The law is the Law of Attraction: Made famous more recently by the book The Secret. In a nutshell, for those who are unaware, the Law of Attraction is the theory/law (depending on who you ask) that the feeling inside in conjunction with your sub conscience, attracts more of the same into your life. For example: A person who thinks about themself as a successful business person with a nice house and car will attract the events and opportunities that will bring the thoughts into reality.
The Law of Attraction has had many notable supporters over the years. Andrew Carnegie, Albert Einstein, the Wright Brothers, Henry David Thoreau and Abraham Lincoln…. and of course lets not forget about Oprah.
Here is where the experiment begins. As a entrepreneur, I am going to practice the principals highlighted in Think and Grow Rich and The Secret. I will report the notable events over the course of this journey and by the end I hope I can say that the Law of Attraction is 100% undoubtedly true. It might come in the form of a company I already have in my portfolio or it might be a completely new idea. We’ll have to wait and see.
